Equipment

  • Highball glass
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Bar spoon
  • citrus juicer

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 2 oz Concord grape juice
  • 1 oz lime juice freshly squeezed is best
  • 4 oz ginger ale or ginger beer
  • Ice
  • Lime wedge or slice for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a glass with ice: A highball or rocks glass works well.
  • Pour the vodka: Measure out 2 oz and add it over the ice.
  • Add grape juice: Pour in 2 oz of Concord grape juice.
  • Squeeze in lime juice: Add 1 oz of freshly squeezed lime juice for a tart kick.
  • Top with ginger ale: Fill the rest of the glass with ginger ale (about 4 oz) for fizz and sweetness.
  • Stir gently: Mix the drink with a bar spoon to combine without losing too much carbonation.
  • Garnish: Add a lime wedge or slice for a bright finishing touch.

Notes

  • Chill Everything: Chill your highball glass, vodka, and ginger ale before making the drink for the ultimate refreshing experience.
  • Measure Accurately: The right balance of vodka, Concord grape juice, and lime juice is key to nailing this classic recipe.
  • Layer for Presentation: Add the grape juice last for a beautiful ombré effect that will wow your guests.
  • Stir Gently: To maintain the fizz of the ginger ale, stir lightly with a long spoon instead of shaking.
