I love a classic Aperol spritz. Heck, I love it so much that I often make a large batch of it to enjoy out on my patio in the summer. However, there are times when I want that classic taste of an Aperol spritz but without the hangover or icky feeling the next day. That’s where my non-alcoholic Aperol spritz recipe comes in! This delicious alcohol-free spritz is the perfect aperol spritz mocktail – you truly wouldn’t know the difference!

A classic spritz has three components: Aperol, prosecco, and soda water. For this recipe, I could have mimicked the recipe perfectly with the addition of non-alcoholic sparkling wine, but I personally haven’t found one that I love the taste of yet. Instead, I used extra sparkling water, which was light and refreshing!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Authentic Italian aperitivo vibes, minus the booze – With Lyre’s Italian Spritz, enjoy the vibrant charm and natural flavorings of the classic Aperol Spritz without the alcohol. Add a fresh slice of orange or a sprig of rosemary, and you’re sipping the perfect alcohol free Aperol spritz!
  • Layers of flavor and complexity – Crafted with Lyre’s products, savor the complexity of bitter botanicals and herbal notes reminiscent of a traditional Italian spritz, perfectly balanced for a satisfying sip.
  • Guilt-free refreshment, anytime, anywhere – Whip up this refreshing drink with just two simple ingredients – sparkling water and Lyre’s Italian Spritz – for guilt-free indulgence, whether hosting friends or craving a midweek pick-me-up. The bright orange hue is reminiscent of the original Italian classic.

Ingredients for a non-alcoholic aperol spritz.

  • Sparkling water – Refreshing and  bubbly, sparkling water is the perfect base of this non-alcoholic Aperol Spritz. Its bubbles add a nice aspect to the drink and lighten up the intense bitter liqueur flavor of the Lyre’s Italian Spritz.
  • Lyre’s Italian spritz – Lyre’s Italian Spritz is a carefully crafted non-alcoholic aperitif that captures the essence of the classic drink. Made with natural flavorings, it tastes like a good Italian spritz, but as a non-alcoholic version. I’ve tried a lot of non-alcoholic spirits, and I think this has the most natural flavoring (although that’s just my personal taste!).I truly believe that you need this ingredient for the most authentic non-alcoholic spritz experience. I was hesitant, but it has really nice Italian citrus flavors.

Substitutions and Additions

  • Alcohol-free wine – Feel free to add some non-alcoholic sparkling wine. I wanted to make this recipe as simple as possible. Alcohol-free drinks like this spritz can taste like the classic Italian drink without the alcohol, but you’re free to customize it!
  • Add fruit juice – You can add some fresh juice to this cocktail to give it a more fruity flavor. I’d suggest grapefruit juice or maybe a combination of juices! Maybe 1 part grapefruit juice, two parts of orange juice. That sounds really refreshing!
  • Switch up the soda water – You can use any type of sparkling water you like – tonic water, club soda, seltzer water, etc. You could even use a dash of soda water with flavorings – like a grapefruit soda!

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: Fill a wine glass or balloon glass with ice.

Step 2: Pour 2 ounces (60 ml) of Lyre’s Italian Spritz into the glass.

Step 3: Top up the glass with sparkling water.

Step 4: Give it a gentle stir. Garnish with a slice of orange or a twist of citrus peel.

Serve and enjoy your non-alcoholic Aperol Spritz!

Serving Suggestions

  • Antipasto platter – Create a spread of Italian-inspired snacks such as olives, cured meats, cheeses, and bruschetta. The savory bites will pair nicely with the refreshing sweetness of the non-alcoholic Aperol spritz.
  • Light appetizers – Serve up light and flavorful appetizers like caprese skewers, grilled shrimp, or stuffed mushrooms. These bites will enhance the aperitivo hour without overpowering the delicate flavors of the drink. Bonus points if you serve my bruschetta!
  • Al fresco dining – Take your Aperol Spritz outdoors and enjoy it on a sunny patio or by the poolside. The refreshing nature of the drink makes it perfect for leisurely outdoor gatherings with friends and family.
  • Mocktail bar – Set up a DIY mocktail bar with an array of non-alcoholic drinks, including your Aperol Spritz, along with various mixers, garnishes, and flavored syrups. Let guests customize their beverages to their liking.
