Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Glass
- In a small dish, mix together 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
- Rub a lime wedge (or a bit of water) around the rim of your margarita glass.
- Dip the rim into the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat it.
Step 2: Mix the Cocktail
First, add 2 ounces of tequila to a cocktail shaker. I love to use repasado for this recipe, but at the time of shooting, I just had blanco, which also works well!
Next, add 2 teaspoons of maple syrup to the shaker.
After adding the maple syrup, add 2 teaspoons of pumpkin puree.
After adding the pumpkin puree, add 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice! You can’t have a margarita without lime juice, of course!
Lastly, add some ice to the cocktail shaker.
Cover the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This way, the pumpkin will become smooth and will mix with the other ingredients.
Step 3: Serve
- Fill the prepared glass with ice.
- Strain the margarita mixture into the glass.
- Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

- Shake Vigorously – Donโt be shy with your shakingโshake the cocktail shaker vigorously for at least 15-20 seconds. This helps blend the pumpkin puree evenly and slightly aerates the drink for a smoother texture.
- Rim the Glass Right Before Serving – To keep the cinnamon sugar rim fresh and crunchy, rim the glass just before serving. If prepared too far in advance, it can absorb moisture and lose its crisp texture.
